"It was not until the invention of the microscope that mycology (the study of fungi) became a recognised science. And thanks to the technological developments of the 20th century, mushrooms are finally able to assume their rightful place as one of Mother Nature’s interesting creations."

Denny Mushrooms are truly a cook’s best friend. Whether you need just a little something to dress things up or to add a whole new dimension of flavour, the answer is mushrooms
Mushrooms do not need to be peeled and both the cap and the stem can be used. They can be sliced thickly or thinly, cut in quarters, coarsely or finely chopped, or left whole. They can be eaten raw as part of a salad, cooked and served as a side dish, added to stews and casseroles, or stuffed and served as a delicious starter.
sliced, in a microwaveable bowl (no butter or oil needed). Cover and cook on high for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring once

These are some easy preparation methods for fresh mushrooms:
Sautéing: (This is the most popular way to cook mushrooms.) For 250g of Denny mushrooms, melt one tablespoon of butter/margarine or heat one tablespoon of oil in a large frying pan. Add mushrooms. Stir until golden brown - about 5 minutes. Don’t put too many mushrooms in the pan at a time otherwise they will steam rather than brown.
Roasting: Place Denny mushrooms in a shallow baking pan. Toss with a little oil and roast in a 220oC oven, stirring occasionally, until brown - about 20 minutes. Use about one tablespoon of oil for each 250g of mushrooms.
Grilling: Lightly brush caps and stems with oil to keep the mushrooms moist, season, and grill for about 10 minutes, turning them once. Mushrooms should be placed about 10 cm from the heat source.
Seasoning: Virtually any and all seasonings go well with Denny mushrooms. Popular choices are garlic, black pepper and mixed herbs.
Freezing: Fresh mushrooms don’t freeze well. However, if they have been sauteed first, they can be frozen in an air-tight container for up to one month.Remember also the option of Denny canned mushrooms - always have a few cans of Denny mushrooms in the pantry - they are a wonderfully convenient addition to any meal.
Microwaving: Denny Mushrooms cook extremely well in the microwave. Put 250g of mushrooms, thickly sliced, in a microwaveable bowl (no butter or oil needed). Cover and cook on high for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring once
